Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.96% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 5.77% or 0.347 points to trade at 6.364 at the close. Meanwhile, Mapfre (MC:MAP) added 4.98% or 0.110 points to end at 2.318 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was up 4.81% or 0.515 points to 11.220 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gamesa (MC:GAM), which fell 2.60% or 0.445 points to trade at 16.675 at the close. Indra A (MC:IDR) declined 1.50% or 0.160 points to end at 10.545 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) was down 1.04% or 0.300 points to 28.580.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 147 to 56 and 20 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.07% or 0.90 to $1255.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.98% or 0.84 to hit $43.31 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 0.89 to trade at $44.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1326, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.7877.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.28.
