Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mapfre (MC:MAP), which rose 4.79% or 0.101 points to trade at 2.208 at the close. Meanwhile, Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) added 4.54% or 0.465 points to end at 10.705 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 4.51% or 0.224 points to 5.194 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bankia (MC:BKIA), which fell 4.67% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.836 at the close. Ferrovial (MC:FER) declined 1.50% or 0.290 points to end at 19.045 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) was down 1.17% or 0.028 points to 2.359.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 140 to 61 and 18 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.71% or 21.10 to $1256.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.55% or 1.05 to hit $42.24 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 0.84 to trade at $43.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1371, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.7904.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.49% at 93.99.
