Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 3.52% or 0.173 points to trade at 5.084 at the close. Meanwhile, Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 3.31% or 0.176 points to end at 5.485 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was up 2.18% or 0.455 points to 21.350 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which fell 2.32% or 0.026 points to trade at 1.094 at the close. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) declined 1.79% or 0.044 points to end at 2.417 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) was down 1.10% or 0.008 points to 0.718.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 142 to 54 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Popular (MC:POP) fell to all time lows; down 2.32% or 0.026 to 1.094. Shares in Gamesa (MC:GAM) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.18% or 0.455 to 21.350.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.15 to $1317.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.24% or 0.54 to hit $44.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 0.57 to trade at $46.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1174, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.75.
