Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Santander (MC:SAN), which rose 1.74% or 0.069 points to trade at 4.025 at the close. Meanwhile, Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) added 1.43% or 0.13 points to end at 9.43 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) was up 0.99% or 0.087 points to 8.903 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which fell 3.98% or 0.189 points to trade at 4.554 at the close. Gamesa (MC:GAM) declined 3.75% or 0.675 points to end at 17.325 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was down 3.50% or 0.356 points to 9.804.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 98 to 93 and 18 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.64% or 21.25 to $1270.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.52% or 0.76 to hit $49.20 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 0.76 to trade at $49.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.1249, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7674.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 94.09.
