Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Financial Services & Real Estate and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia (MADRID:BKIA), which rose 2.82% or 0.035 points to trade at 1.275 at the close. Meanwhile, Arcel. Mittal (MADRID:MTS) added 1.55% or 0.139 points to end at 9.089 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MADRID:TRE) was up 1.30% or 0.540 points to 42.110 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Abengoa B (MADRID:ABGek), which fell 4.05% or 0.124 points to trade at 2.935 at the close. Bankinter (MADRID:BKT) declined 2.85% or 0.196 points to end at 6.683 and Sacyr (MADRID:SCYR) was down 1.36% or 0.054 points to 3.926.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 110 to 97 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.35% or 4.10 to $1191.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.28% or 1.84 to hit $58.00 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.36% or 2.10 to trade at $64.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.89% to 1.0820, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.7184.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.77% at 97.49.
