Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.04%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 4.32% or 13.10 points to trade at 316.50 at the close. Meanwhile, United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 3.87% or 0.840 points to end at 22.530 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) was up 3.81% or 33.5 points to 912.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which fell 5.56% or 1.900 points to trade at 32.300 at the close. Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) declined 4.36% or 6.36 points to end at 139.48 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) was down 2.94% or 0.960 points to 31.700.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 122 to 92 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.56% or 1.900 to 32.300. Shares in Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.81% or 33.5 to 912.5.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.43% to 30.970 a new 6-months low.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.33% or 4.45 to $1333.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.78% or 0.36 to hit $45.58 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.20 to trade at $46.76 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.96% to 63.4660, while EUR/RUB rose 0.43% to 69.899.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 97.10.
