Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Manufacturing and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 3.18% or 9.40 points to trade at 304.70 at the close. Meanwhile, DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) added 2.23% or 7.20 points to end at 330.00 and Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) was up 1.68% or 2.70 points to 163.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which fell 6.88% or 57.00 points to trade at 772.00 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 6.01% or 1.515 points to end at 23.700 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was down 4.81% or 5.26 points to 103.99.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 145 to 79 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in MVideo (MCX:MVID) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.18% or 9.40 to 304.70. Shares in Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 1.68% or 2.70 to 163.00.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.50% to 33.210.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.23% or 2.85 to $1243.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.24% or 1.38 to hit $44.02 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.02% or 1.34 to trade at $45.66 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.12% to 65.8198, while EUR/RUB fell 0.82% to 74.385.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 94.43.
