Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 2.70% or 2.000 points to trade at 76.000 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON Rossiya OAO (MCX:UPRO) added 1.58% or 0.0450 points to end at 2.8850 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 1.46% or 0.0131 points to 0.9111 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which fell 8.17% or 256.0 points to trade at 2876.0 at the close. RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) declined 4.03% or 0.0290 points to end at 0.6900 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) was down 3.78% or 2.200 points to 56.000.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 136 to 88 and 20 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.27% to 26.720.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.51% or 6.95 to $1349.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.17 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.29 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.64% to 64.1930, while EUR/RUB rose 0.54% to 72.333.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.90.
