Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 4.62% or 2.81 points to trade at 63.64 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) added 3.05% or 0.0980 points to end at 3.3080 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 2.41% or 13.00 points to 553.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which fell 2.74% or 1.55 points to trade at 55.12 at the close. Sberbank (MCX:SBER) declined 1.87% or 2.03 points to end at 106.48 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was down 1.46% or 2400 points to 162500.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 111 to 98 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) rose to all time highs; rising 3.05% or 0.0980 to 3.3080.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.14% to 35.460.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.20 to $1070.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.37% or 0.59 to hit $42.45 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.66% or 0.77 to trade at $45.41 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.49% to 65.945, while EUR/RUB rose 0.54% to 69.950.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 99.89.
