Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 5.29% or 0.0595 points to trade at 1.1845 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) added 3.54% or 0.1000 points to end at 2.9220 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was up 3.42% or 65.0 points to 1968.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL), which fell 3.88% or 6.10 points to trade at 151.00 at the close. Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) declined 2.44% or 1.24 points to end at 49.61 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) was down 2.41% or 18.0 points to 730.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 112 to 86 and 13 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.88% to 35.540.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1175.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.16% or 0.70 to hit $59.75 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.67 to trade at $63.03 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.93% to 54.206, while EUR/RUB rose 1.31% to 61.088.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.11.
