Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 2.20%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 6.34% or 0.0322 points to trade at 0.5400 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 6.29% or 2.14 points to end at 36.14 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 4.56% or 13.10 points to 300.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which fell 4.17% or 3.10 points to trade at 71.20 at the close. Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) declined 2.21% or 42.0 points to end at 1855.0 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was down 2.05% or 13.50 points to 644.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 137 to 70 and 3 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.33% to 41.620.
Gold for June delivery was up 2.03% or 24.00 to $1207.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 4.98% or 2.37 to hit $49.97 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 3.67% or 2.02 to trade at $57.13 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.02% to 57.603, while EUR/RUB fell 0.64% to 62.063.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 98.30.
