Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.84%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Sollers (MCX:SVAV), which rose 16.67% or 64.0 points to trade at 448.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 6.74% or 0.0730 points to end at 1.1560 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was up 4.71% or 93.0 points to 2067.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which fell 4.45% or 21.50 points to trade at 461.40 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 4.30% or 0.640 points to end at 14.260 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was down 1.53% or 9.05 points to 580.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 118 to 75 and 6 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.72% to 38.390.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.29% or 3.40 to $1196.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 4.32% or 2.30 to hit $55.59 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.92% or 2.35 to trade at $62.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.09% to 49.964, while EUR/RUB fell 2.23% to 53.018.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 99.14.
