Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were PIK (MCX:PIKK), which rose 3.47% or 5.50 points to trade at 163.90 at the close. Meanwhile, MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 3.45% or 6.50 points to end at 194.90 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 3.44% or 1.200 points to 36.100 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which fell 5.98% or 159.0 points to trade at 2501.0 at the close. E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) declined 3.59% or 0.0970 points to end at 2.6050 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was down 3.04% or 2.44 points to 77.78.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 99 to 76 and 11 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.47% to 31.820.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.50 to $1095.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.29% or 1.10 to hit $49.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.87% or 0.47 to trade at $53.77 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.87% to 58.839, while EUR/RUB fell 2.18% to 64.928.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 96.94.
