Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mining and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.89%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which rose 3.49% or 20.0 points to trade at 593.0 at the close. Meanwhile, MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 2.99% or 22.00 points to end at 758.00 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 2.71% or 0.980 points to 37.080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR), which fell 0.88% or 2.50 points to trade at 281.00 at the close. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 0.60% or 15.0 points to end at 2486.0 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was down 0.55% or 5.00 points to 898.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 130 to 62 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.06% to 32.420.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.38% or 4.10 to $1089.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $48.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.10 to trade at $53.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.12% to 59.386, while EUR/RUB rose 0.52% to 64.824.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 97.83.
