Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 5.19% or 3.320 points to trade at 67.320 at the close. Meanwhile, Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) added 4.25% or 13.30 points to end at 326.30 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was up 3.98% or 83.0 points to 2170.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which fell 3.80% or 9.50 points to trade at 240.30 at the close. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 1.83% or 65.0 points to end at 3490.0 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was down 1.79% or 18.00 points to 989.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 120 to 70 and 19 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.33% to 46.760.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.90% or 11.20 to $1236.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 11.12% or 2.92 to hit $29.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 9.03% or 2.71 to trade at $32.77 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.44% to 78.4464, while EUR/RUB fell 3.40% to 88.144.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 96.05.
