Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which rose 4.69% or 137.5 points to trade at 3069.5 at the close. Meanwhile, ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) added 4.55% or 91.5 points to end at 2104.5 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) was up 4.36% or 7.25 points to 173.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which fell 6.00% or 12100 points to trade at 189700 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.32% or 1.87 points to end at 78.69 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) was down 1.52% or 14.0 points to 910.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 117 to 106 and 14 ended unchanged.

The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.44% to 34.150.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.32% or 4.10 to $1272.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.03% or 0.50 to hit $48.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.34 to trade at $49.62 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.67% to 65.1709, while EUR/RUB rose 0.19% to 73.451.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 94.74.
