Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI), which rose 0.73% or 0.0105 points to trade at 1.4535 at the close. Meanwhile, J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) added 0.43% or 0.0525 points to end at 12.2025 and Portugal Telecom (LISBON:PTC) was up 0.26% or 0.0015 points to 0.5775 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS), which fell 4.22% or 0.1705 points to trade at 3.8665 at the close. Semapa (LISBON:SEM) declined 2.85% or 0.3800 points to end at 12.9350 and Portucel (LISBON:PTI) was down 2.74% or 0.1245 points to 4.4155.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 45 to 22 and 4 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for June delivery was up 2.75% or 1.77 to $66.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.58% or 2.04 to hit $59.10 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.80 to trade at $1209.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.62% to 1.1159, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.7215.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.28% at 94.96.
