Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 0.53% or 0.0700 points to trade at 13.3600 at the close. Meanwhile, Sonae (LS:YSO) added 0.45% or 0.0030 points to end at 0.6730 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) was up 0.21% or 0.001 points to 0.475 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which fell 2.67% or 0.0005 points to trade at 0.0182 at the close. J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) declined 2.17% or 0.3250 points to end at 14.6200 and EDP (LS:EDP) was down 2.05% or 0.0630 points to 3.0030.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 35 to 11 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.53% or 0.0700 to 13.3600.
Brent oil for October delivery was up 0.71% or 0.35 to $49.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.17 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.55% or 7.45 to trade at $1349.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1268, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8666.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 94.88.
