Portugal stocks lower at close of trade; PSI 20 down 0.62%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.62%.

The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LISBON:SEM), which rose 1.60% or 0.2100 points to trade at 13.3550 at the close. Meanwhile, J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) added 0.30% or 0.0400 points to end at 13.5600 and Nos SGPS SA (LISBON:NOS) was up 0.17% or 0.0130 points to 7.7960 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF), which fell 4.84% or 0.0003 points to trade at 0.0059 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) declined 3.36% or 0.0115 points to end at 0.3305 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) was down 2.17% or 0.0015 points to 0.0675.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 44 to 19 and 4 ended unchanged.

Shares in J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.30% or 0.0400 to 13.5600. Shares in Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) fell to all time lows; falling 3.36% or 0.0115 to 0.3305.

Brent oil for September delivery was up 1.22% or 0.60 to $50.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.73% or 0.78 to hit $45.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.18% or 2.00 to trade at $1091.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.0951, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7012.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 97.55.
