Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 2.17%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 6.09% or 0.0012 points to trade at 0.0209 at the close. Meanwhile, Sonae (LS:YSO) added 4.43% or 0.0290 points to end at 0.6840 and EDP (LS:EDP) was up 3.51% or 0.0970 points to 2.8580 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which fell 1.30% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.1520 at the close. Montepio (LS:MPIO) declined 0.79% or 0.004 points to end at 0.500 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was down 0.38% or 0.0020 points to 0.5310.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 41 to 8 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Montepio (LS:MPIO) fell to all time lows; falling 0.79% or 0.004 to 0.500.
Brent oil for September delivery was down 0.75% or 0.35 to $46.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.84% or 0.38 to hit $45.03 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.90 to trade at $1359.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1053, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8518.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 96.63.
