Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.91%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 10.03% or 0.0034 points to trade at 0.0373 at the close. Meanwhile, Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 5.53% or 0.0990 points to end at 1.8900 and Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) was up 5.31% or 0.2000 points to 3.9690 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT), which fell 0.48% or 0.0700 points to trade at 14.4800 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) declined 0.34% or 0.0270 points to end at 7.8920 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) was 0.00% or 0.000 points to 0.580.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 36 to 10 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Montepio (LS:MPIO) unchanged to all time lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 to 0.580.
Brent oil for June delivery was down 0.92% or 0.41 to $44.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.81% or 0.34 to hit $41.83 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.10% or 13.90 to trade at $1247.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.84% to 1.1287, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.7941.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.74% at 94.72.
