Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 2.99% or 0.3450 points to trade at 11.8900 at the close. Meanwhile, J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) added 2.12% or 0.3100 points to end at 14.9400 and Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) was up 1.46% or 0.098 points to 6.800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which fell 7.64% or 0.0910 points to trade at 1.1000 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) declined 7.17% or 0.2610 points to end at 3.3790 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was down 3.68% or 0.0013 points to 0.0340.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 24 to 20 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.12% or 0.3100 to 14.9400.
Brent oil for June delivery was up 2.33% or 1.00 to $43.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.77% or 1.14 to hit $42.33 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.68% or 20.80 to trade at $1255.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1370, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7906.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.46% at 94.02.
