Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Energy and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 6.38% or 1.50 points to trade at 25.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) added 4.44% or 1.04 points to end at 24.45 and Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) was up 3.27% or 1.73 points to 54.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which fell 2.85% or 1.86 points to trade at 63.41 at the close. Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) declined 2.78% or 1.50 points to end at 52.50 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) was down 2.45% or 0.72 points to 28.63.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 276 to 249 and 186 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.38% or 1.50 to 25.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.48% or 0.62 to $41.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.16% or 0.51 to hit $43.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.45% or 5.95 to trade at $1340.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.22% to 4.3605, while USD/PLN fell 0.48% to 3.9322.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 96.55.
