Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 1.76% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which rose 9.84% or 4.67 points to trade at 52.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) added 5.58% or 3.50 points to end at 66.20 and CCC SA (WA:CCCP) was up 3.97% or 7.70 points to 201.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS), which fell 1.32% or 0.33 points to trade at 24.70 at the close. Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) declined 0.58% or 0.70 points to end at 120.42 and PKP Cargo (WA:PKPP) was down 0.21% or 0.10 points to 48.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 287 to 243 and 192 ended unchanged.
Shares in CCC SA (WA:CCCP) rose to all time highs; rising 3.97% or 7.70 to 201.65.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.31% or 0.65 to $50.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.09% or 0.58 to hit $53.58 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.38% or 4.45 to trade at $1173.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.27% to 4.4464, while USD/PLN rose 1.46% to 4.1842.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.81% at 101.09.
