Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Energy, Construction and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.26% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which rose 6.42% or 0.54 points to trade at 8.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) added 3.13% or 0.95 points to end at 31.28 and PKO Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) was up 2.83% or 0.77 points to 28.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which fell 9.44% or 7.46 points to trade at 71.54 at the close. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) declined 3.98% or 2.76 points to end at 66.50 and ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) was down 2.93% or 4.75 points to 157.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 299 to 245 and 181 ended unchanged.
Shares in PKO Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.83% or 0.77 to 28.02.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.65% or 0.84 to $50.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.32% or 0.71 to hit $53.22 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.78% or 9.15 to trade at $1179.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.36% to 4.4390, while USD/PLN fell 0.72% to 4.1269.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 100.27.
