Philippines stocks higher at close of trade; PSEi Composite up 0.05%

Investing.com – Philippines stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking & Financials, Services and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite rose 0.05%.

The best performers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Bloomberry Res (PS:BLOOM), which rose 4.36% or 0.410 points to trade at 9.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Bk Of Phi Isla (PS:BPI) added 1.97% or 1.85 points to end at 96.00 and Aboitiz Equity (PS:AEV) was up 1.73% or 1.000 points to 58.600 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Petron (PS:PCOR), which fell 4.61% or 0.360 points to trade at 7.500 at the close. Energy Develop (PS:EDC) declined 2.72% or 0.200 points to end at 7.100 and Dmci Holdings (PS:DMC) was down 2.16% or 0.260 points to 11.800.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Philippines Stock Exchange by 101 to 83 and 19 ended unchanged.

Shares in Petron (PS:PCOR) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.61% or 0.360 to 7.500. Shares in Dmci Holdings (PS:DMC) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.16% or 0.260 to 11.800.

Gold for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.50 to $1097.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.94% or 0.45 to hit $47.53 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.59 to trade at $52.71 a barrel.

CNY/PHP was up 0.11% to 7.3305, while USD/PHP rose 0.10% to 45.516.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 96.78.
