Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.89%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 6.03% or 1.39 points to trade at 24.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 37.81 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 4.90% or 0.10 points to 2.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which fell 4.44% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.880 at the close. Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) declined 4.00% or 0.30 points to end at 7.20 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was down 2.60% or 0.10 points to 3.73.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 31 to 20 and 43 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.44% or 0.040 to 0.880.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.95% or 0.88 to $46.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.10% or 0.55 to hit $50.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.24% or 2.60 to trade at $1092.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.03% to 218.490, while USD/NGN fell 0.01% to 199.000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.53.
