Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Financials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 2.32%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 0.84% or 0.040 points to trade at 4.730 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) fell 0.87% or 0.20 points to end at 22.84 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was down 1.52% or 0.17 points to 11.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randstad (AS:RAND), which fell 4.78% or 2.26 points to trade at 45.05 at the close. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 4.69% or 0.201 points to end at 4.087 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) was down 4.19% or 0.450 points to 10.285.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 146 to 22 and 10 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 16.42% to 26.99 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 2.55% or 1.29 to $49.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.39% or 1.24 to hit $50.71 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1274.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1281, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.7872.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 94.42.
