Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.78%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which rose 1.05% or 0.036 points to trade at 3.450 at the close. Meanwhile, Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) added 0.18% or 0.04 points to end at 19.05 and TNT Express (AS:TNTE) was down 0.01% or 0.001 points to 7.984 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 4.42% or 0.21 points to trade at 4.64 at the close. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 4.03% or 0.205 points to end at 4.880 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was down 3.45% or 0.40 points to 11.06.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 130 to 35 and 8 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 6.51% to 23.60.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.79% or 1.25 to $43.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.96% or 0.90 to hit $44.93 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.51% or 6.65 to trade at $1289.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1520, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.7917.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 92.80.
