Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which rose 1.68% or 0.86 points to trade at 51.92 at the close. Meanwhile, KPN Kon (AMS:KPN) added 1.45% or 0.046 points to end at 3.227 and Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) was up 1.31% or 1.27 points to 98.46 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ASML Holding (AMS:ASML), which fell 4.85% or 4.66 points to trade at 91.43 at the close. Aegon (AMS:AEGN) declined 3.06% or 0.230 points to end at 7.275 and Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) was down 2.56% or 0.24 points to 9.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 228 to 31 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in KPN Kon (AMS:KPN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.45% or 0.046 to 3.227.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 6.00% to 18.98.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 4.47% or 2.20 to $51.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 5.05% or 2.85 to hit $59.34 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.65% or 7.80 to trade at $1204.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.0883, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7328.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 97.58.
