Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which rose 1.85% or 0.61 points to trade at 33.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Aegon (AS:AEGN) added 1.61% or 0.061 points to end at 3.851 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 1.50% or 0.37 points to 24.97 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 3.47% or 0.205 points to trade at 5.695 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.30% or 1.130 points to end at 47.970 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was down 1.08% or 0.64 points to 58.67.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 87 to 74 and 10 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.33% to 16.87.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.75% or 0.75 to $42.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.51% or 0.68 to hit $44.30 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 5.05 to trade at $1351.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.53% to 1.1174, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8588.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 95.60.
