Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Support Services, Healthcare and Food Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.29% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AMS:GTO), which rose 2.34% or 1.90 points to trade at 83.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) added 2.22% or 2.05 points to end at 94.38 and Aegon (AMS:AEGN) was up 1.80% or 0.125 points to 7.065 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randstad (AMS:RAND), which fell 2.74% or 1.50 points to trade at 53.30 at the close. ING Groep (AMS:ING) declined 1.50% or 0.210 points to end at 13.795 and Philips Kon (AMS:PHG) was down 0.98% or 0.26 points to 25.66.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 128 to 121 and 4 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.07% to 21.78.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.08% or 0.63 to $59.21 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.09% or 0.71 to hit $66.56 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 2.51% or 30.40 to trade at $1179.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1186, while EUR/GBP rose 1.37% to 0.7307.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 95.21.
