Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which rose 0.52% or 0.49 points to trade at 95.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Heineken (AS:HEIN) added 0.45% or 0.36 points to end at 79.53 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was up 0.19% or 0.08 points to 41.69 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 2.94% or 0.168 points to trade at 5.554 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 1.11% or 0.69 points to end at 61.31 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) was down 1.01% or 0.33 points to 31.89.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 86 to 63 and 17 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.68% to 17.39.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.78% or 0.85 to $46.79 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.69% or 0.85 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.65 to trade at $1326.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8546.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 95.66.
