Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.78%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.49% or 0.279 points to trade at 5.364 at the close. Meanwhile, Randstad (AS:RAND) added 3.24% or 1.30 points to end at 41.48 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 2.85% or 0.74 points to 26.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 1.11% or 0.71 points to trade at 63.10 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 0.27% or 0.05 points to end at 18.67 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.15% or 0.03 points to 16.52.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 139 to 34 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Philips Kon (AS:PHG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.85% or 0.74 to 26.70.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 13.28% to 14.70.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.36% or 1.07 to $46.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.77% or 0.83 to hit $47.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.04% or 13.85 to trade at $1345.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1226, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8581.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.17.
