Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 8.56% or 0.404 points to trade at 5.123 at the close. Meanwhile, Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 3.58% or 0.47 points to end at 13.46 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was up 3.43% or 1.25 points to 37.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 1.50% or 0.755 points to trade at 49.495 at the close. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) declined 0.84% or 0.35 points to end at 41.70 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was down 0.54% or 1.25 points to 230.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 119 to 49 and 9 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.84% to 18.55 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 4.38% or 1.96 to $46.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 4.58% or 2.12 to hit $48.37 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.86% or 25.25 to trade at $1331.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1090, while EUR/GBP fell 1.91% to 0.8351.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 96.34.
