Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC declined 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Simec, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:SIMECB), which rose 3.01% or 1.480 points to trade at 50.720 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) added 2.04% or 0.860 points to end at 43.130 and Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) was up 1.07% or 0.330 points to 31.350 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA), which fell 5.28% or 1.840 points to trade at 33.800 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 4.17% or 3.500 points to end at 80.450 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) was down 3.92% or 1.81 points to 44.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 91 to 74 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Simec, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:SIMECB) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.01% or 1.480 to 50.720.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.06% or 0.80 to $1233.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.89% or 0.37 to hit $41.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.05 to trade at $43.05 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.72% to 17.4316, while EUR/MXN fell 0.45% to 19.7228.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 94.46.
