Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Financial Services and Telecoms Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 1.47% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB), which rose 5.12% or 1.59 points to trade at 32.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Gruma, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GRUMAB) added 4.27% or 7.890 points to end at 192.900 and Mexichem, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) was up 4.19% or 1.840 points to 45.970 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA), which fell 3.19% or 2.85 points to trade at 86.53 at the close. Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA) declined 3.05% or 0.900 points to end at 28.650 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) was down 1.90% or 1.670 points to 86.220.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 90 to 40 and 1 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.12% or 13.20 to $1187.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.33% or 0.20 to hit $58.95 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $66.46 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.84% to 15.4360, while EUR/MXN fell 1.31% to 17.2003.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 95.59.
