Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Televisa SA (MX:TLVACPO), which rose 2.19% or 1.830 points to trade at 85.240 at the close. Meanwhile, Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) added 2.06% or 0.980 points to end at 48.470 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) was up 2.02% or 8.710 points to 440.920 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which fell 2.72% or 0.500 points to trade at 17.860 at the close. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) declined 2.52% or 0.750 points to end at 28.980 and Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA) was down 2.34% or 0.650 points to 27.150.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 144 to 133 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mexichem, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.06% or 0.980 to 48.470.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.24% or 14.60 to $1193.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.85% or 0.85 to hit $46.91 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $49.01 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.05% to 20.6230, while EUR/MXN fell 0.02% to 21.8832.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 101.21.
