Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Industrial Products and Property sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 1.08% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO), which rose 0.60% or 0.36 points to trade at 60.86 at the close. Meanwhile, IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) added 0.50% or 0.02 points to end at 3.99 and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) was up 0.34% or 0.01 points to 2.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which fell 3.45% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.31 at the close. Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (KL:FGVH) declined 2.98% or 0.05 points to end at 1.63 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) was down 2.72% or 0.17 points to 6.08.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 509 to 75 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (KL:FGVH) fell to all time lows; down 2.98% or 0.05 to 1.63.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.17% or 1.29 to $58.34 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.35% or 1.49 to hit $61.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.41% or 4.80 to trade at $1178.00 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.09% to 2.8041, while USD/MYR rose 0.11% to 3.7858.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 95.95.
