Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Products, Trade & Services and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM), which rose 1.70% or 0.07 points to trade at 4.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLKK) added 1.51% or 0.34 points to end at 22.86 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) was up 0.92% or 0.05 points to 5.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which fell 2.52% or 0.08 points to trade at 3.10 at the close. British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (KL:BATO) declined 1.93% or 1.34 points to end at 68.04 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENA) was down 1.80% or 0.26 points to 14.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 53 to 49 and 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.07% or 1.06 to $50.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.61% or 0.95 to hit $58.23 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.59% or 7.10 to trade at $1197.70 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.74% to 2.7111, while USD/MYR rose 0.40% to 3.6868.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 98.08.
