Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Property and Plantation sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI lost 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM), which rose 4.30% or 0.19 points to trade at 4.61 at the close. Meanwhile, Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) added 2.56% or 0.06 points to end at 2.40 and MISC Bhd (KL:MISC) was up 1.90% or 0.17 points to 9.13 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IHH Healthcare Bhd (KL:IHHH), which fell 2.68% or 0.16 points to trade at 5.81 at the close. Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) declined 2.38% or 0.22 points to end at 9.01 and YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS) was down 1.78% or 0.03 points to 1.66.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 57 to 45 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in MISC Bhd (KL:MISC) rose to 3-years highs; rising 1.90% or 0.17 to 9.13.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.46% or 0.76 to $52.40 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.48% or 0.88 to hit $59.83 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.50% or 6.00 to trade at $1198.60 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.16% to 2.6784, while USD/MYR rose 0.95% to 3.7095.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 100.07.
