Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Products, Plantation and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which rose 4.76% or 0.14 points to trade at 3.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) added 3.61% or 0.22 points to end at 6.32 and YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS) was up 1.96% or 0.03 points to 1.56 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENA), which fell 2.14% or 0.28 points to trade at 12.78 at the close. KLCC Property Holdings Bhd (KL:KLCC) declined 0.71% or 0.05 points to end at 6.95 and MISC Bhd (KL:MISC) was down 0.49% or 0.04 points to 8.16.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 307 to 249 and 41 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.60% or 0.36 to $61.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.50% or 0.33 to hit $64.78 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1175.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.14% to 2.7969, while USD/MYR rose 0.24% to 3.7540.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.32.
