Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Insurance and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Meidensha Corp. (T:6508), which rose 3.58% or 15.0 points to trade at 434.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) added 3.08% or 18.0 points to end at 602.0 and Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (T:7202) was up 2.77% or 33.5 points to 1243.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714), which fell 4.95% or 34.0 points to trade at 653.0 at the close. IHI Corp. (T:7013) declined 4.69% or 13.0 points to end at 264.0 and Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) was down 4.42% or 13.0 points to 281.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1294 to 550 and 153 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.00% to 25.95 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.67% or 0.32 to $47.76 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.83% or 0.40 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.59% or 7.35 to trade at $1244.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 109.33, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 122.56.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.33.
