Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Machinery, Banking and Warehousing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4063), which rose 4.20% or 305.0 points to trade at 7575.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6952) added 2.78% or 68.0 points to end at 2512.0 and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4005) was up 2.47% or 18.0 points to 747.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5201), which fell 3.81% or 28.0 points to trade at 706.0 at the close. Maruha Nichiro Corp (TOKYO:1333) declined 3.55% or 77.0 points to end at 2091.0 and Unitika, Ltd. (TOKYO:3103) was down 3.33% or 2.0 points to 58.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1293 to 587 and 1 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 7.25% to 18.49.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.62% or 0.30 to $48.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.24% or 0.13 to hit $55.40 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.97% or 10.60 to trade at $1083.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 123.89, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 136.15.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.00% at 97.29.
