Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Warehousing, Power and Shipbuilding sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:7267), which rose 8.77% or 349.0 points to trade at 4328.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Ube Industries, Ltd. (TOKYO:4208) added 8.76% or 19.0 points to end at 236.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4911) was up 6.52% or 195.5 points to 3196.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nisshin Steel Holdings Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5413), which fell 9.67% or 139.0 points to trade at 1298.0 at the close. Mitsubishi Logistics Corp. (TOKYO:9301) declined 8.76% or 158.0 points to end at 1646.0 and Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5202) was down 8.59% or 11.0 points to 117.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 943 to 935.
Shares in Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4911) rose to all time highs; up 6.52% or 195.5 to 3196.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.97% to 17.74.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.79% or 0.37 to $46.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.90% or 0.47 to hit $51.74 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1095.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 124.03, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 136.24.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 97.33.
