Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Services and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mazda Motor Corp. (T:7261), which rose 6.00% or 89.0 points to trade at 1571.5 at the close. Meanwhile, J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:3086) added 4.77% or 54.0 points to end at 1187.0 and Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T:6703) was up 3.57% or 5.0 points to 145.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (T:9104), which fell 5.57% or 13.0 points to trade at 220.5 at the close. Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) declined 4.89% or 15.0 points to end at 292.0 and DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) was down 4.83% or 135.0 points to 2658.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1196 to 753 and 108 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.03% to 29.14.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.16% or 0.07 to $44.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.24% or 0.11 to hit $45.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.54% or 7.20 to trade at $1324.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 106.18, while EUR/JPY fell 0.03% to 116.46.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.46.
