Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Finance & Investment and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Hitachi Zosen Corp. (T:7004), which rose 7.52% or 38.0 points to trade at 543.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) added 6.94% or 17.0 points to end at 262.0 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (T:7211) was up 6.42% or 33.0 points to 547.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412), which fell 5.58% or 27.0 points to trade at 457.0 at the close. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) declined 2.41% or 14.0 points to end at 566.0 and Sapporo Holdings Ltd. (T:2501) was down 2.19% or 12.0 points to 535.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1335 to 578 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.58% or 27.0 to 457.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.95% to 34.51.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.76% or 0.35 to $46.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.19% or 0.56 to hit $47.75 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.17% or 15.15 to trade at $1283.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 104.31, while EUR/JPY rose 0.12% to 117.20.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 94.68.
