Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Transport and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735), which rose 7.62% or 92.5 points to trade at 1306.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) added 4.85% or 15.0 points to end at 324.0 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) was up 4.46% or 64.0 points to 1498.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332), which fell 4.87% or 22.0 points to trade at 430.0 at the close. Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) declined 3.99% or 88.0 points to end at 2117.0 and Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983) was down 2.68% or 980.0 points to 35600.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1287 to 617 and 153 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.16% to 22.59.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.68% or 0.81 to $47.29 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.48% or 0.74 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.38% or 5.15 to trade at $1340.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 100.29, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 113.25.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 94.63.
