Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Mining and Communication sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 6.61% or 15.0 points to trade at 242.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983) added 4.98% or 1650.0 points to end at 34800.0 and Inpex Corp. (T:1605) was up 3.79% or 37.3 points to 1021.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151), which fell 2.91% or 46.0 points to trade at 1534.0 at the close. DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) declined 2.84% or 95.0 points to end at 3250.0 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) was down 2.61% or 95.0 points to 3550.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1648 to 1241 and 369 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.84% to 20.01.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.65% or 0.33 to $50.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $52.19 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1257.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.30% to 104.02, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 114.64.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 97.82.
