Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Warehousing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which rose 4.80% or 109.0 points to trade at 2378.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sharp Corp. (T:6753) added 4.69% or 5.0 points to end at 111.5 and Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) was up 3.81% or 17.0 points to 463.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Teijin Ltd. (T:3401), which fell 4.26% or 15.0 points to trade at 337.0 at the close. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) declined 4.15% or 246.0 points to end at 5688.0 and Yamaha Corp. (T:7951) was down 4.10% or 117.0 points to 2737.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 989 to 914 and 139 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.78% to 29.67.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.76% or 0.38 to $49.50 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.72% or 0.37 to hit $50.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.61% or 8.15 to trade at $1318.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.20% to 102.62, while EUR/JPY fell 0.37% to 114.00.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.80.
